A Reflection on Reflections

Yesterday the Management received an invitation to the RA Now Auction next week. She has previously bought work at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Out of curiosity, I had a look at the online catalogue for the auction and, in view of the recent exercise, smiled to myself when I saw Lot 15 by Ken Howard RA.

Ken Howard RA, Bitta’s Silver, c. 2008
Oil on canvas
50.8 × 61 cm

The auction catalogue gave the following information:

“Ken Howard studied at Hornsey School of Art and then the Royal College of Art, where he won a British Council Scholarship to study in Florence. He exhibited at the Plymouth Art Centre in 1955, and has since gone on to hold numerous solo exhibitions throughout Britain and abroad, in particular with the New Grafton Galleries from the 1970s, and since 2002 with Richard Green, London. He has won many prizes and commissions throughout his career and in 1973 and 1979 the Imperial War Museum appointed him official artist in Northern Ireland.”
