P99 Large Study of an Individual Tree

Now spend more time looking at a tree in more detail. Spend at least half an hour on this drawing. Use A3 cartridge paper and a fine drawing medium.

I originally tried to draw a magnificent oak tree which is in the middle of a field close to where I live. Unfortunately, I had to sit so far back to see all of it that most of it was a dark silhouette against the sky. So I headed back to Boot Lane where I had drawn the small ash tree earlier. Again, it was too early for any foliage, but there were some keys from autumn. There was some sun so I caught shadows of some branches on others.
